Posted on: August 2nd, 2010 Stunning Posters For Rolling Roadshow

It’s no mystery that we here at GKS are huge supporters of the Alamo Drafthouse, the independently run movie theatre chain in Austin, TX. For movie fans, these theatres are like mecca – unique, film lover aimed programming, fully licensed screenings with a complete restaurant menu, and most importantly, they enforce that little no-talking rule.
But once a year, the Alamo takes its show on the road with its Rolling Roadshow, kind of like a rock band tour, but for movies. Basically, the movie-lovin’ cats at the Alamo set up a huge screen at a location somewhere in the US and play a classic film that somehow relates to that location. For example, past Roadshows have included screenings of Escape From Alcatraz actually at Alcatraz, and so forth.
Well next week, the 2010 Rolling Roadshow kicks off and the Alamo commissioned artist Olly Moss (no stranger to the Alamo’s art curation) to create a series of posters for the films on this year’s schedule. And they are nothing short of breathtaking. Take a look for yourself (click each poster for full size):
Simply stunning. If you can get your hands on any of these posters at a screening, don’t hesitate. As for this year’s Rolling Roadshow schedule, well if you haven’t deduced most of it from the above posters, here it is in full, with locations:
- August 6 – Jackie Brown, Del Amo Fasion Mall, Los Angeles
- August 7 – Dirty Harry, Washington Square Park, San Francisco
- August 8 – There Will Be Blood, Kern County Museum, California
- August 8 – Convoy, Fort Union Drive-In, Las Vegas
- August 13 – The Blues Brothers, Joilet Prison, Chicago
