Posted on: July 5th, 2010 A Complete GRINDHOUSE DVD Could Be On Its Way…

If this happens then I will be one happy boy, as Grindhouse was one of my favorite movie theater memories in recent years…
Edgar Wright, director for the faux-trailer Don’t, which appeared during Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s double feature Grindhouse, tweeted this today:
So, get this, tomorrow I am doing a commentary on ‘Don’t’. Some of you will know what that means is finally happening.
That seems pretty cut and dry that there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing a proper DVD/Blu-Ray release for Grindhouse. So far, all us fans got were individual releases for the features, Death Proof and Planet Terror, with none of the fake trailers. Though the two films are enjoyable on their own, it was nothing compared to the full experience.
In case you didn’t see it, Japan did get a full Grindhouse release with some incredible packaging. I want that. Just give me that and I’ll be happy. Hopefully we’ll get confirmation on this soon.

July 5th, 2010 at 9:42 pmFinally! I waited on buying the dvd’s because of the split and lack of “trailers”. Could be my first bluray purchase!

July 6th, 2010 at 2:34 pmBig time fingers crossed. The theatrical experience was awesome (I saw it in Banff making it sweeter). The DVD’s are cool and all, but let’s see it as the directors intended!

July 10th, 2010 at 7:46 amI’m still waiting on that Kill Bill complete set that Tarantino said was happening. I don’t even remember when I heard him say it, but it was a long time ago. He said he was combining the two, plus adding some extra scenes, and putting it out as one big movie. He even mentioned a possible short theatrical run. That was so long ago I guess it will probably never happen. I never actually bought the Kill Bill DVDs because I was waiting for that set.
Same with the Grindhouse set. I never bought those DVDs, anticipating this set. What I wonder is if the two features will still have the missing reels, like in the theatrical versions, or include them like in the individual DVD releases. I really like that they are getting the trailer directors together for the commentary.

July 10th, 2010 at 8:45 am@ Dalyn You know, now that you mention it, I never bought the Kill Bill dvd’s either. I remember reading a magazine article with some guy (maybe from the studio) laughing how they’ll sell the split up dvd’s, then keep double dipping the material with new dvd sets.
Hearing that upset me and I never bought anything. Maybe he was kidding around or someone put a stop to it. I don’t know. But yeah, I’d be up for it.
I also saw kill bill 1&2 in Japan, so it had all the full colour/longer crazy 88 scene. I don’t think I could roll back to the US version after seeing it that way.
