Posted on: March 20th, 2010 Tim Burton to Take on The Addams Family in 3D?

family-pictureAccording to Deadline, Tim Burton has signed on to direct an animated version of The Addam’s Family.

The Addams Family first premiered in The New Yorker magazine in 1938, penned by cartoonist Charles Addams, who continued the print until his death in 1988. There, of course, have been numerous films, television shows and even a video game based on the macabre family.

According to Deadline’s report, the project would come directly from the illustrations found in the New Yorker. There are conflicting reports on whether or not the film will be 3D animated or in stop-motion, ala A Nightmare Before Christmas.

When reached for comment, apparently Burton’s people say that the director hasn’t lined up any of his upcoming projects, neither confirming nor denying his involvement in this new Addams Family.

Now word yet on when, or if, production is slated to begin.
