Those in attendance at SXSW last night were privy to the first look at footage from Nimrod Antal’s Predators, a new entry in the popular alien-hunter series. Now that footage has popped up online with commentary from the film’s producer Robert Rodriguez. Watch the two-minute clip below:

So far I think this is looking really bad ass, a tough feat to pull off considering the way the franchise went with the two AvP films. I like how there seems to be an element of survival among the human cast, something imperative in telling a Predator story. There is the inclusion of predator dogs, as you saw in the footage, while they look cool enough, I hope they don’t go overboard with the multiple types of predators in the film.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet… as prey. With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members human “predators” that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.

Predators opens July 7th.
