For the week of February 28-06: Portal 2 announced & Walter Day Retires

Portal 2

Aprils cover of Game Informer has made me a very happy camper indeed. Looks like they have the full scoop on Portal 2 with 12 full pages of details to dish. Looking at the cover, I have to admit, the outdoor environments look an awful lot like the environments in Half-Life 2 Ep:2. Its been years since it released with the Orange Box and Ep. 2 did mention new teleportation technology and Portal does mention Black Mesa so there’s big references to one another already. Here’s hoping the two get even more intertwined because I couldn’t get enough Portal action out of the first game. Really excited to see Portal getting a full sequel. It was bound to happen and here it is!

Now let’s admire the cool cover treatment Game Informer has given the announcement.

Walter Day Retires

Fans of the 2007 documentary The King of Kong will no doubt recognize this man. As of March 4th, Walter Day has officially announced his retirement with plans to focus on his music. He’s done so much for the video game community I felt it was proper to recognize he announcement and say thank you.

A day in the life of Walter Day

And if you still haven’t seen this wonderful film, do yourself a favour and watch. It’s accessible to everyone and you’ll witness one of the 21st centuries greatest villains, Billy Mitchell. Lots of people have said he’s been made the villain though slick editing, but nobody has put words in his mouth. I suppose since he’s got the talent to back up his ego, he got good reason to act the way he does.

The King of Kong trailer for good measure.

Until next week.

Dale can also be found over at www.8bitcyclops.com, looking at design, photography and old video game magazines.
