Posted on: February 25th, 2010 David Goyer to Write SUPERMAN Sequel
The fine folks over at Latino Review have done it again and nabbed themselves a hot little exclusive that will make you Superman fans excited; screenwriter David Goyer has been signed to pen the next Superman film, tentatively titled The Man of Steel.
You’ll know Goyer as the guy who wrote Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (with Jonathan Nolan). His other writing credits include Blade, Blade II, Blade: Trinity (which he also directed), Jumper and The Unborn. There’s some stinkers in there, but it’s apparent the dude is big into comics.
The news of Goyer’s involvement comes pretty soon after the announcement that Christopher Nolan would be involved in the film, in a developmental capacity. Seems as though Warner is keeping their creatives quite close to the chest, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
But that’s not all for details on the new Supes, Latino Review also revealed the following details about the film:
- The film will be inspired, tonally, by the John Byrne incarnation of Superman; more modern and believable.
- Brandon Routh will not return as Clark Kent/Superman.
- Bryan Singer will not direct (unconfirmed though highly speculated).
- The film will not touch on Superman’s origin.
- The film will feature Lex Luthor and Braniac.
- The film will apparently set up a sequel that will explore some major Kryptonian mythology.
This is exciting news. Might we finally see a modern Superman movie that can revitalize the character?
More on The Man of Steel as it develops.
