I’ll be honest: I have no clue who Blake Lively is.
Ohh right, of course! She was in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2!
Well now she can add Green Lantern to her imdb page, as she’s just been cast as Carol Ferris, Hal Jordan’s love interest in the film.
Latino Review’s El Mayimbe broke the scoop a few weeks ago when he reported that five actresses were among those being eyeballed for the role (other actresses included Eva Green, Keri Russell, Diane Kruger and Jennifer Garner), and today THR confirms that Lively nabbed the role.
I’m not quite sure what to think of this as I’ve never seen Lively’s acting; surprisingly, I’ve never seen Gossip Girl. I was kind of hoping that Keri Russell would land the gig, myself.
Green Lantern begins shooting in 10 weeks. Ryan Reynolds stars as Green Lantern Hal Jordan, with Martin Campbell directing. No other casting has been announced yet, but I get the feeling we’re going to be hearing some more news soon.
