Bleep, Bleep. Bloop, Bloop. Video Games. 11-22/28-09
For the week of November 22 – 28: A Life Well Wasted – Episode 5, Penny Arcade TV.
Hello Gobble Heads, my fellow Canadians and those who feel left out. The Madden to American Thanksgiving video game rush is over and everyone is pooped. Not much to say this week, but I wanted to bring up the latest episode of A Life Well Wasted.
NEWS
A Life Well Wasted
You may remember this summer when the last show released, creator Robert Ashley and designer Olly Moss teamed up with the idea to create a poster to commemorate each new episode. There is so much work put into every show with the interviews and music driving each conversation that I think it’s a great way for fans to show support.
The posters are limited to 200, hand-made screen print on heavyweight paper. The episode 5 poster has a really solid design, so I didn’t hesitate to jump on it early and as it sold out in only a few hours, a lot of others liked it too. If you’re still interested, posters for ep. 3 and 4 are still available and ep. 2 yet to be released. Episode 2 also has a great design that I’m sure will go in no time at all, so keep you’re eyes peeled.
In this episode, there is an interview with legendary pinball designer Steve Ritchie that you really have to hear. He tells a story about the launch party for Black Knight 2000 in France that anyone looking for a good laugh has to hear. Also talks with the guys behind the Desert Bus for Hope, a group of friends playing the most boring game in existence all in the name of charity and a guy parts with games for a year in the name of self help. Listen to the show.

Penny Arcade TV
Another exciting media event to happen this week is the launch of Penny Arcade TV. Strangely, the guys behind Penny Arcade have decided to a start a reality show about, well, their reality. Day to day around the office, making web comics, juggling the Child’s Play Charity and PAX.
When I first heard about it brought up at this years Penny Arcade Expo, I didn’t really know what to think, but after watching the first two episodes, they have my full support.
I’ve loved listening to their often forgot about podcast, so if I can now see them on a regular basis, in glorious web stream video, then Hoo-raw.
Until next week.
Dale can also be found over at www.8bitcyclops.com, looking at design, photography and old video game magazines.
