Posted on: November 26th, 2009 Hawkeye to Appear in THOR & AVENGERS?
Almost a year ago there were rumors of Black Widow and Hawkeye having roles in Iron Man 2. Well that turned out to be half true, but we haven’t really heard anything about Hawkeye showing up in the film universe Marvel is creating with The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers. We haven’t heard anything until now…
The Playlist transcribed an interview from the latest issue of Empire in which actor Jeremy Renner (28 Weeks Later, The Hurt Locker) reveals that he is in talks with Marvel to take on the role of Hawkeye, Marvel’s resident archer and blond-haired bad boy. According to Renner, the character will cameo in Thor and then go on to a beefier role in The Avengers.
Hawkeye could be interesting. They’re going to send me some stuff on it, see what it is. But I think they’re pretty awesome, trying to make superhero movies almost plausible and not just some fantasy thing.
Sounds pretty serious, and if you ask me you couldn’t pick a better Clint Barton/Hawkeye – Renner’s got some serious potential and has already displayed some definite acting chops. Cast the dude. Sign the papers. We have our Hawkeye.
I love Hawkeye; he’s the perfect supporting character for a team of giant actors in huge superhero roles and I think audiences will really connect with him. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this all comes together.
What do you think about Hawkeye hitting the big screen?
