More Join THOR…
The cast of Marvel’s big-screen adaptation of Thor is coming along quite nicely already; now we have confirmed casting for the “Warriors Three” and Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard.
Collider reports that Stuart Townsed, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano will play Fandral the dashing, Volstagg the valiant and Hogun the grim, respectively. The Warriors Three are, in layman’s terms, Thor’s posse. I was kind of surprised with the casting of Stevenson as Volstagg, as you’ll remember he played the Punisher himself, Frank Castle in 2008’s wretched Punisher: War Zone. I guess it’s not all that bad though, as only 15 people saw that flick. I digress…
THR Heat Vision is also reporting that Idris Elba – ‘Stringer Bell’ from The Wire and Charles Miner from The Office – has been cast as Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard who can be found at the Bifrost Bridge ready for any invaders.
The film, being directed by Kenneth Branagh, also stars Chris Hemsworth (as the titular God of Thunder), Tom Hiddleston (as the villainous Loki), Anthony Hopkins (as Odin) and Natalie Portman (as love interest Jane Foster).
Thor is set for release on May 20, 2011. Filming begins in January next year.
