Call of Duty: The Movie & Dark Void News

There has been rumblings the last few days that a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare movie may be in the works. This was further fueled by comments by Kevin McKidd, the voice actor of Captain “Soap” MacTavish, and also better known as Lucius Vorenus in HBO’s Rome, to the New York Times. Concerning the adaptation:
“They were looking for a rough, Scottish actor in Hollywood they probably couldn’t get Gerard Butler, so they got the No. 2 Gerard Butler, me. I had no idea it would be so huge, and now there are talks of a feature film,” he revealed to PopWrap. Then came the kicker, when asked if he would be bringing Soap to life in the movie, he said, “if the script is good, and Gerard isn’t available [laughs], then absolutely.”
Honestly I’m surprised it took this long for them to decide on a film adaptation, seeing as how much dough the first game made. The same can’t be said for Brad Pitt’s Plan B. According to Variety, Plan B has already inked a deal with Capcom to develop a potential film franchise for Pitt based on the video game Dark Void. You might be thinking “Dark Void? Haven’t played, let alone seen it.” You wouldn’t be alone, since the game is slated to come out in January.

According to Wikipedia:
The game’s story will center around a cargo pilot named William Agustus Grey who crashes in the Bermuda Triangle. From there, he is teleported to a parallel universe where he encounters other humans, called Survivors. Together, Will and the survivors must battle an alien race known as the Watchers to return to Earth. The Watchers came from afar, making humans do their bidding, whilst being treated as gods. Eventually people known as Adepts emerged and banished the Watchers to the realm in which our pilot is trapped. With the help of Nikola Tesla, they retrofit Watcher technology to fight the Watchers.
I haven’t seen anything on the game yet, but the story already sounds fun. Nikola Tesla?!? I say continue casting David Bowie as the scientist. The game is set for a multi-platform release in America and Europe in January, and I’m sure by then we’ll know whether it’s a game good enough to be adapted by Plan B, or bad enough to be left to the likes of Uwe Boll. I’m hoping for the former.
