I am thinking perhaps a gander at any number of Zombie features, such as my personal fav Shaun of The Dead or Dawn of the dead (remake).
Or any hitchcock film would fit the bill
Or for non stop action and smartass quips, Blade Trinity, just a few ideas tossed out there in the mix, let me know if you want me to do a review on any of the aforementioned.

You’d be hard-pressed to convince me how the original Dawn of the Dead isn’t the best zombie movie ever made…

For the intents of this feature, horror-comedies (ala Shaun of the Dead) are not eligible, nor are actioners (ala Blade Trinity [sub-note: Blade II is so effing amazing] ).

Let ‘er rip guys and gals, start listing off some good ol’ classic horro flicks…

@Ryan – Happy to read your comment regarding the original dawn of the dead. Very happy. It is THE zombie film.

During the season of All Hallows Eve, I enjoy watching The Exorcist, Suspiria, Rosemary’s Baby, Seven, Shaun of the Dead, The Crucible, Hannibal, 28 Days Later, The Omen, The Blair Witch Project, and OF COURSE Silence of the Lambs (I actually watch it year-round, when I’m cleaning the house. When Buffalo Bill is done, so am I).

Oh, and The Prince of Tides. Chilling.

John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) should make the cut.

The Thing is in my top 5 favorite films of all time; got an original theater print framed in my living room… interestingly enough I can only watch it near Christmas time, and has become my Christmas Eve tradition. It’s simply one of those “perfect” movies.

I recommend checking out the book that inspired the films, Who Goes There? You can read the entire thing for free here (it’s a fairly short read):

Alien has to be considered. A true sci fi / horror classic.

I also nominate The Descent, I can’t hide my love for that film, very few films are as successful in creating that kind of tension. I also enjoy strange creatures attacking hapless humans on many levels.

28 Days Later is another great horror movie, maybe not a “true” zombie flick, but a movie that managed to actually terrify and thrill me. I know I’m not the first to mention it, but it needs to be seconded. If there’s room for two zombie movies on the list then this one merits consideration.

Halloween is another film that can still spook me. With apologies to Jason Voorhees, I think Michael Myers is the best example of the “bogeyman” type of horror villain. You really can’t go wrong with some John Carpenter, either.
