T’was only a matter of time…

Take a look at the trailer for The Descent: Part 2, the sequel to the wildly praised horror film from Neil Marshall (written and directed). Note that The Descent: Part 2 is not written or directed by Marshall, he merely has an executive-producer role, whatever that may be. If this trailer is representative of the film’s quality, then it doesn’t look like were in for a treat, much like we were the first film.

The Descent: Part 2 continues right where the first film left off with Sarah, the only survivor of the creature-ridden caves, aiding a search and rescue team in the complex cave system in which her and her friends were lost. Talk about a completely forced plot that takes the concept of the first film and really cheapens it.

The film is set for release in the UK on December 4; no word on a US release date yet.

The Decent is firmly in my top 10 horror movies, but part of the reason why was because the movie completely blind sided me with the monster angle. So much of the movie took me by surprise and I see none of the same care being put into part 2 judging by this trailer.

Why the hell would the Sarah character return for friends she watched and helped partake in dieing?

Also in the UK release, we find out that her escape was completely in her head because she was crazy. How will they explain that? One ending she gets out, the other, she doesn’t.

    No reason for a sequel.

I agree wholeheartedly Dale. This looks like a huge turd. Totally unecessary and will no doubt be half as interesting as the first flick.

    Scream > chop > monster > repeat.

Dale is so right. I was freaked out enough by those girls just being down in the caves, and then all of the sudden these monsters come out of nowhere! Definitely on of my best horror films. As for the sequel, I put it right up there on my must see list alongside of Hancock 2… although I do loves me some Charlize.
