iron_man_2_teaser_poster2Here’s another reason why I’m a massive pile of failure for not being at the San Diego Comic Con last week: the Iron Man 2 panel.

You’ll remember two years ago, at SDCC ‘07, the roof was blown off the place when director Jon Favreau and co. played a reel of footage, a mock trailer if you will, to the crowded room. That was in essence the first trailer which was then public a short while later, and it was incredible.

Well history repeats itself, and fans beheld the first footage from the highly-anticipated sequel. Word on the street is that it was one of the highlights of the entire weekend.

SPOILER ALERT

According to fan reports the reel showed some brief-yet-mouth-watering footage including:

- A smooth talking Justin Hammer
- An electrified whip-wielding Mickey Rourke as Whiplash (which apparently looked totally bad-ass)
- More Nick Fury
- More Pepper Potts
- Some action with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow
- Dialogue between Robert Downey and Gary Shandling, who plays a US senator
- Brief footage of Mickey Rourke in a Russian prison, constructing his weapons
- Don Cheadle as Rhodey…. and as War Machine!

Sounds pretty incredible and I can’t wait to see it; hopefully history will repeat itself again and the rest of the world will get to see something soon.

    The footage was awesome!

It was funny how they presented it too because Favreau initially showed some behind the scenes footage with green screen, wires, etc. and then Robert Downey Jr. comes out and says “WTF was that!? You’ve shown me better footage than that!” Then they showed the real footage.

At one point, Don Cheadle wanted to see it again because it was his first time seeing footage as well. So they played it again and the crowd went crazy!
