Futurama’s Original Voice Cast is a No-Go?

Editor’s note:
Kudos to Forces Of Geek.com, a very good friend of Giant Killer Squid, for breaking this pretty profound news.
This is probably the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a while. And I hear a lot of dumb things throughout my day.
As we know, Futurama has been picked up on Comedy Central to have 26 new episodes in 2010. Outstanding! And yet, the latest word says that we may not be getting the original cast back. Boo…
Due to salary demands and budget cuts, Billy West (Fry/The Professor/Dr. Zoidberg), John DiMaggio (Bender), Katey Sagal (Leela) and Maurice LaMarche (Anything Else) are up in the air for now.
I know that there will be changes made; it’s kind of inevitable. But this is just preposterous. First of all, these people make up over 75% of the voices in that show. Go ahead, check my math on that one and tell me that’s not an excellent approximation. Who are you going to get instead? The former talents of Drawn Together? I’m sure they aren’t doing anything. Adam Carolla may be able to take time away from his busy schedule-he does record a lot of podcasts.
Secondly, you’re trying to tell me that John DiMaggio and Maurice LaMarche are asking for too much money? Those guys are in every animated show ever! I’m certain they will do voice work on your show if you offer them a dinner at The Olive Garden. Batman: Brave and the Bold can’t be dishing out bags of money for DiMaggio to do Aquaman. I mean Katey Sagal-sure; she was Peggy Bundy. That can’t come cheap.
So, guys-seriously? Spend the money. A Futurama without the old Fry, Bender, Leela and Clamps is absurd. Don’t be dumb.

That makes me genuinely sad.
I’d rather they didn’t bring it back if they’re just going to ruin it.
