Stars: Justin Whalin, Michael Rooker, Ryan McPartlyn, Samuel Lloyd and Danielle Harris
Lets face it, the spoof genre is on the verge of destroying itself. The current spoof films center more around fart jokes and modern references to pop culture and with each lame ass spoof, is another nail in the coffin.
We should have seen this coming when Mel Brooks, the spoof King (in this writers opinion), has not “spoofed” since Dracula: Dead and Loving it. Of course there have been those rare gems, like Not Another Teen Movie and Scary Movie 1and 2. But this new generation of “spoofers” seems to have lost their inspiration. There is no heart or soul, like there was with Spaceballs or Airplane. But the spoof genre continues to barely limp on, which brings me to Super Capers. A super hero spoof that, by all appearances does what A Superhero Movie failed to do on so many levels. For starters, I laughed more in this trailer than through the hour and half of shit that was A Super Hero Movie. The premise and the jokes look genuine and the pop references minimal. It does not take itself too seriously like many other spoof films do and the writing looks like it would make Mel Brooks proud.
Will it do well? Probably not. The spoof genre is not nearly as dominant nor as popular as it once was. Will it make me laugh? I hope so, if the trailer is a taste of things to come.

Looks pretty indy, I’m getting a Spykids vibe from it. Spoof flick for tweens?

I can kind of see where you would get the Spykids vibe from it. Perhaps it should be better titled Spyteens, if thats the case.

The spykids thing is just the family friendly comedy combined with dirt cheap VFX.
