Posted on: February 12th, 2009 Tarantino’s ‘Told Ya So’ – First Look at Inglourious Basterds
And with this trailer, thousands of movie geeks worldwide lose bets as there were many that believed this mythological Quentin Tarantino film would never come out. Seems like he’s been talking about this World War II revenge flick since WWII… well, at least since 2001.
Take a look at the trailer below to catch your first glimpse of the Inglourious Basterds, a gaggle of hard-ass take-no-bull soldiers on a mission…. for Nazi scalps!
Inglourious Basterds (inspired by Enzo Castellari’s 1978 film Inglorious Bastards) hits theaters in August.

February 24th, 2009 at 4:02 pmI’m not sure I care about this film. I used to be a huge Tarantino fan, but after his last abortion of a film, one which shall remain nameless but you all remember his most recent work, I really don’t care about the guy anymore. I love movies, so I’ll end up seeing this in the theaters, but I’m just not psyched about it like I was for Kill Bill or even as much as I was for the un-named, immensely disappointing aforementioned abortion of a film.

February 24th, 2009 at 5:10 pmI’m a little on the fence… I mean… I love the premise and generally love Tarantino. I think that this ones been hyped for forever, so it has some expectations. The cast, as eclectic as it is, turned out different than I imagined. I think in my head, and from what Tarantino has given us before, I wanted a bit more mainstream. Like, Eli Roth? Really? But I’m still wanting to see it.
I must confess too… I’m one of those very very few that enjoyed Death Proof… call me an apologist. I can’t really say why, but something clicked with me. But I’m not gonna open that can-of-worms!

February 24th, 2009 at 10:18 pmReally? Well, that’s cool. I’m not opposed to the film, just that I was immensely disappointed with it. I think it suffered from too much hype.
Same goes for this, I guess, so I’m a little worried. But the vast majority of Tarantino’s stuff is very good. Honestly I don’t know what to think. I do love the casting choices though. Great stuff.

February 25th, 2009 at 8:23 amMy problem with Tarentino, is not that he is a terrible director/writer, because I really enjoy his older stuff (Resivoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, etc), but there is a definite lack of passion in his films of late. And he is os focused on doing homages and remaking his spagetti westerns, that substance and plot are less important. Tarentino, really needs to get back to his roots and do something original and unique like his prior films. Pretty much his ego has gotten far to inflated.
As for Inglorious Basterds, I will probably see it at some point, but I am not going to rush out opening weekend to see it. At this point it really only has 2 things that really grab my attention, WW II and Mike Myers (hopefully he can bounce back and be good again)

February 25th, 2009 at 10:20 pmIts not that I ddisliked Kill Bill, I really felt that it was not on par with PF and RD. It could have been far better than it was, and really all i wnat from Tarentino is something original, which is not a complte honage to his favorite genre’s of film. He is a talented guy, I wish he would fdo more with his creativity, than constant Homage’s

February 26th, 2009 at 10:47 amEven though I kinda dig his throwback stuff, I will agree… the man’s real talent isn’t being capitalized on. He needs to go back to being a little more subtle.

February 26th, 2009 at 2:48 pmI’m not exactly in the ‘film world’ loop, so this is the first I’ve heard of someone really hating on Death Proof. I thought it was a great film. Great editing/style/characters, the first 2/3 had that hang out with the characters Jacky Brown vibe with the verbose dialog I enjoy and the final third was thrill to watch.
Inglourious Bastards might be a little too set in reality violent for my taste, but I’m going to watch just to see my little curly haired jewish friend from Freaks and Geeks killing Nazi’s. And hopefully get that tarantino flavour to tide me over for a few years. I just hope he doesn’t decide to make a cameo…because, you know…. yeesh!

February 26th, 2009 at 3:18 pmWell Dale, my opinion certainly isn’t a terribly popular one. I know some people in this business who agree with me, I know more though that agree with what you think of the film.
Freaks and Geeks, now that was a great show.

February 27th, 2009 at 1:11 pmI still have yet to see Deathproof, something about it really just did not appeal to me, and I am not really sure what it was, it just looked odd to me.
